Growing up, books, movies and television shows led me to believe that your 20s is all about “finding yourself” – and I’ve quickly learned they were right. It’s a surreal time in life, when the doors of the world swing open, and you’re expected to walk through them with a clearly defined purpose. Instead, I find myself searching for the answer to the quintessential question: who do I want to be?

My answer is still evolving –and it’s a privilege to be able to explore it– but there’s one thing I’ve learned I can’t escape: I’m a writer.

I haven’t been able to untangle myself from writing since childhood, when I filled my free time with short stories, poems and pretend advice columns. They’ve since given way to articles, features and blog posts – with a journalism degree sprinkled in between. That thrill of writing has never wavered for me. Specifically, through writing about people (my favorite “puzzles” to solve), music (my sanity) and pop culture (my shameless fascination), I’ve been lucky enough to channel my passion into something tangible, exhilarating and rewarding. I’m excited to challenge myself as a writer as I tackle the years ahead, wherever they may lead me.
